Schuler’s Announces Executive Vice President & COO
MARSHALL, MI, April 25, 2010 --- Hans Schuler, Chairman and CEO of Schuler’s Restaurant & Pub, has announced that Sue Damron has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the company.
Damron joined Schuler’s in November of 1998 as Executive Assistant to the Chairman and has previously served as the
restaurant’s Vice President and General Manager. As Executive Vice President and COO, she will supervise all day-to-day restaurant operations.
“I know from experience how challenging the restaurant business can be, and Sue is absolutely up to the task. Her dedication and talent have been instrumental in our great success during the past decade, and she was the driving force behind our 100th Anniversary celebration. I have the utmost confidence in her abilities,” says Hans Schuler, who remains active in the daily operations of the restaurant.
Damron is a lifelong area resident who grew up twenty miles northeast of Marshall at Duck Lake. She attended Kellogg Community College and Olivet College, studying business and accounting. Before joining Schuler’s, she worked at Starr Commonwealth for nearly ten years for Starr’s Michigan Community Based Programs—Families First and Treatment Foster Care. As a result, she developed formidable ‘people skills’ and learned to promote teamwork and collaboration—approaches that have served her well in the restaurant and hospitality industry.
She and her husband Shannon have two children—Josh, who is finishing up at the police academy in June at Kellogg Community College, and Elizabeth, a senior at Marshall High School who also will attend KCC.
Damron currently serves as Vice-Chair of the DDA/Main Street board of directors and is a member of the Main Street Organization Committee and the Chamber of Commerce Tourism Council. Reflecting her love of softball—which her husband still plays and which she played until her children became involved in sports—she also serves as the treasurer for the Marshall High School Softball Boosters.
“Every day is a new challenge at the restaurant…and I love that,” says Damron. “It really helps when you enjoy what you do.”
